From as far back as I can remember, water has always intrigued me.  It wasn’t until I was 13 years old that I had my first experience with the ocean its self.  I had always dreamed of going and exploring it, but growing up in a state surrounded by land, not remotely close to the ocean was my only challenge.

From a young age I was always interested in science.  When I was in elementary I was given the great opportunity to apply to become a member of the Jason Project.  At first I wasn’t sure what to expect from it, but the more years I was involved I soon became very interested in the ocean and ocean life.

In my 6th grade school year I did a science fair project on tubeworms and won most creative award.  From that point on I took it as a hobby to learn more about the ocean as whole.

Aside from my academic love of the ocean, I also joined a swim club and learned rather quickly that it was in the water where I felt most comfortable.  I spent night a day practicing and competing and worked my way up to Olympic Trials.  I was too young at the time to participate but I did have the great opportunity to train with the team in Ft. Lauderdale for an entire summer right next to the ocean.  This was my first time in the ocean and I loved every minute of it.

Years later after I graduated college I began working in the business world.  I did do some research in my spare time but I was consumed with my occupation, that is until I met Vic Ferguson, the Executive Director of the WFCRC.

After spending time getting to know Vic, I soon realized what an empowering individual he was.  He sparked my love for the ocean once again and ever since then I have become involved in the WFCRC.

This is an organization that I strongly believe in.  I have been lucky enough to meet so many passionate people whom make up our team.  We are at a great point in our cause and we are only getting started.
